THE BLESSED LIFE:
Genesis 12:1-3 NLT
[1] The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. [2] I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. [3] I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”
The blessed life is reflected in the success one achieves in their areas of skill and calling, material possessions and in their wisdom for doing things. As we have also seen, blessed people prosper through making others prosper. God blesses people to make them a blessing to others.
All they work for and all who associate with them are blessed on account of them. Because Lot was with blessed Abraham, he prospered too (Genesis 13:1-6). God blessed Hagar, Ishmael and his descendants because of Abraham (Genesis 21:12-13). To be blessed is to be a blessing to others. Let’s look at a few more testimonies …….
JOSEPH
Genesis 39:5 NLT
[5] From the day Joseph was put in charge of his master’s household and property, the Lord began to bless Potiphar’s household for Joseph’s sake. All his household affairs ran smoothly, and his crops and livestock flourished.
Joseph was also a great blessing to the Pharaoh, Egypt, and the rest of the world (Genesis 41-47).
JACOB
Genesis 30:25-27 NKJV
[25] And it came to pass, when Rachel had borne Joseph, that Jacob said to Laban, “Send me away, that I may go to my own place and to my country. [26] Give me my wives and my children for whom I have served you, and let me go; for you know my service which I have done for you.” [27] And Laban said to him, “Please stay, if I have found favor in your eyes, for I have learned by experience that the Lord has blessed me for your sake.”
Who is being blessed or has been blessed by God on account of you? I am not talking about our charitable deeds here. I am talking about what God does in the lives of others on account of us. Being a blessing to others is not primarily what we do for others. It is about how God touches and impacts others through us. Are you living the blessed life? Be a channel of God’s blessings to others.
