KEY TO VICTORY:
II Samuel 5:17-20 NKJV
[17] Now when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to search for David. And David heard of it and went down to the stronghold. [18] The Philistines also went and deployed themselves in the Valley of Rephaim. [19] So David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?” And the Lord said to David, “Go up, for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into your hand.” [20] So David went to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there; and he said, “The Lord has broken through my enemies before me, like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim.
Obedience is also the key to victory in battles and the secret to succeeding against challenges in life. David fought and won more battles than most of us. What was his secret to such successes? I want to know. Do you?
Firstly, David was a man who loved God and valued His opinions very much. He consulted God on all important issues concerning his life, even when he was in the wrong. Secondly, he fully obeyed God when instructed.
So, when the Philistines gathered in the Valley of Rephaim against Israel, David once again inquired from the Lord for direction. God gave David and Israel a mighty breakthrough that day because they went to war on God’s terms.
Do you need a breakthrough in life? Have you asked the Lord for His instructions concerning the challenges you are facing in life? Have you received and followed God’s instructions? Victory is yours. God is fighting your battles for you.
