BE DOERS OF THE WORD:
James 1:22-25 NKJV
[22] But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. [23] For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; [24] for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. [25] But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
The Bible says, we must be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving our own selves. This is the fourth essential to accomplishing great things through Christ. It is only when we act upon the word of God or the instructions we have received from God that we receive the blessings associated with them.
We fail to accomplish much and receive His blessings when we know His will, instructions and His word concerning any particular thing we desire, yet we choose to do something else. God told Joshua, “Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go.” Joshua 1:7 NKJV
Why do we have the word of God, containing all His promises and blessings, and His specific instructions concerning some things we desire to accomplish, and yet choose to ignore them. One thing I have noticed about high achievers is that they are good at learning and taking instructions from the key people in their lives.
Do you value God’s word and instructions? Then quit being a hearer who is not a doer. Only those who are careful in following all the instructions of God, get His blessings. Let us stop deceiving ourselves.
