THE GIFT OF WORD OF KNOWLEDGE:
I Corinthians 12:4-8 NKJV
[4] There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. [5] There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. [6] And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. [7] But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: [8] for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit,
The gift of the word of knowledge is supernatural knowledge given to an individual, concerning things, people, or situations that are past or present. This is to enable an individual, mostly a minister of Christ, to understand a situation accurately, in order to make right decisions, act accordingly, and minister more appropriately.
It is not knowledge that is gained through human efforts and means. It is the absolute working of the Holy Spirit to instantly impart such knowledge to help individuals. For example, when Jesus was ministering to the Samaritan woman at the well.
John 4:16-19 NKJV
[16] Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.” [17] The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You have well said, ‘I have no husband,’ [18] for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.” [19] The woman said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet.
The woman instantly recognised that this was a divine move as there was no way Jesus could have known that about her through natural means. She opened her heart to God when this gift moved through Christ. It allowed Jesus to minister life (Living water) to this woman and the many more who came to listen to Christ through her testimony.
The manifestation of this gift through an individual is always inspiring and impactful. May we desire this free gift of the Holy Spirit so we can serve others more appropriately, in Jesus’s name. Amen!
