FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION:
Deuteronomy 7:7-9 NKJV
[7] The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; [8] but because the Lord loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. [9] “Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;
God is a faithful God who keeps His covenant and mercy to a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments. God will watch over His word to perform it in your life and mine and to a thousand generations after us because of His faithfulness.
We didn’t choose God (John 15:16). He chose us! We didn’t choose to love Him first. He chose to love us first (1 John 4:19). We were not special at all but He chose us and made us special to Himself. God’s faithfulness to you and I, is purely by grace. We have nothing to boast about in this. God found us, had mercy on us, and chose us to be a special people to Him.
So, why is it so difficult for us to love Him back? Why is it so difficult for believing children of God to obey His word and walk in righteousness? Don’t we know that we are preventing God from blessing us and the generations after us? Let us put away that entitlement attitude towards God and learn to humbly love Him instead.
Those who love the Lord like David, will always seek to know the will of God regarding every situation and challenge they face, and follow through with His instructions (1 Samuel 30). As a result, they will experience victories upon victories in their lives.
