THE GIFT OF WORD OF WISDOM:
I Corinthians 12:4-8 NKJV
[4] There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. [5] There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. [6] And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. [7] But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: [8] for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit,
The gift of word of wisdom is the divine ability to know things about a person, places, nations, and situations that concern the future. It enables servants of God to know things that are about to happen, so that they advise others appropriately and make right decisions regarding the future.
It is different from the gift of wisdom that God gave to Solomon (1 Kings 4:29-34), Daniel and the three Hebrew boys (Daniel 1:17), and to those that ask (James 1:5-8). This is just enough knowledge to enable individuals make wise decisions, but it is often ignored because it is often contrary to prevailing circumstances. For example when Jesus told Peter that he would deny Him three times before the cock crows(Luke 22:54-62) and when Paul told the sailors not to sail because of impending storm at sea (Acts 27:9-44).
Friends, it is important that we embrace wholeheartedly, the gifts that God has so graciously given to us, so that we can avoid the dangers and pitfalls in life. These gifts are real and powerful. This gift in addition to the gifts of word of knowledge, discerning of spirits and some of the power gifts, form the basis of prophetic ministry.
Those who desire and obtain this gift are always sharp in avoiding the trappings of life and men. I pray that the Lord may grant you the use of this gift in Jesus’s name. Amen!
