Joseph’s understanding: Verse of the Day

JOSEPH’S UNDERSTANDING:

Genesis 37:5-11 NKJV
[5] Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more. [6] So he said to them, “Please hear this dream which I have dreamed: [7] There we were, binding sheaves in the field. Then behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and indeed your sheaves stood all around and bowed down to my sheaf.” [8] And his brothers said to him, “Shall you indeed reign over us? Or shall you indeed have dominion over us?” So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words. [9] Then he dreamed still another dream and told it to his brothers, and said, “Look, I have dreamed another dream. And this time, the sun, the moon, and the eleven stars bowed down to me.” [10] So he told it to his father and his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall your mother and I and your brothers indeed come to bow down to the earth before you?” [11] And his brothers envied him, but his father kept the matter in mind.

The key to Joseph’s greatness was his deed level of understanding dreams and the commitment he gave to his understanding of dreams. It appeared at first that didn’t comprehend fully that importance of his first dream until he shared it with his brothers, who became angry with him for having such dreams.

Then again his understanding of the importance of his second dream grew when he shared it with his father and brothers. It was clear from their comments on both dreams that God had a great future in store for him. Due to his understanding of these dreams he committed himself to walk more closely to God, keep himself Holy and free from everything that could be an obstacle to his future greatness, and lived a live of diligence and excellence required of all great people.

First Samuel 3:1-18 tells the story of Samuel struggling to understand what was happening to him when he began to hear the voice of God. But when he understood what was happening due to the initial instruction received from Eli, he grew and developed his ability to hear from God. As a result, none of his words fell to ground, that is none of his words failed to be fulfilled. He had 100% prophetic accuracy!

Do you understand the dreams that you receive? Do you understand why you were wired the way you are, and the unusual things that happen around you? Do you understand fully why God has placed you where you are and surrounded you with certain people? Until you do, you will not be able to discipline and commit yourself correctly the way you should to succeed in life.

Joseph prevailed and excelled in life because he understood God’s plans for his life. Sometimes we may need help from others and the Holy Spirit to understand some things in our lives. When we humble ourselves to the right instructions, our understanding will grow. Let us give ourselves more to gaining understanding.
