THE GIFT OF FAITH
I Corinthians 12:7-11 NKJV
[7] But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: [8] for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, [9] to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, [10] to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. [11] But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.
The gift of faith is the special ability to believe God for things through unusual levels of faith. Every Believer has faith and is expected to grow their faith through use. But their individual with the gift of faith operates beyond such normal faith to receive miraculous manifestations of God’s power.
The gift of working miracles works miracles but the gift of faith receives miracles. A person with this gift waits calmly in expectation of deliverance and for the manifestation of God’s power. Good examples of this gift in operation are when the three Hebrew boys were saved through fire and Daniel, in the den of lions (Daniel 3:19-30 & 6:16-24).
The gift of faith is often in manifestation together with the gifts of word of knowledge and the discerning of spirits for powerful deliverance from evil spirits. It is a much needed gift in the body of Christ in extremely difficult circumstances when all faith is gone and hope lost.
Those with the gift of faith remain so calm in the midst of difficult challenges, they can even sleep through a storm (Matthew 8:23-27). May the Lord open our eyes and stir up our hearts to sincerely desire this gift in these challenging times. Amen!
