BLESSED TO BE A BLESSING:
Genesis 12:1-3 NKJV
[1] Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. [2] I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. [3] I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
When God called Abram, He made him great promises which He began to fulfill in Abraham’s lifetime and continues to fulfill to this day. All Believers have become partakers of Abraham’s blessings.
Galatians 3:13-14 NKJV
[13] Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”),[14] that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Friends, all the blessings that God pronounced on Abraham are now ours. God continues to bless nations and peoples through us. Every blessing, gift or skill that God places in our lives are to be used to bless others so that God’s promise to Abraham will continue. If we are blessed with the gifts of healings, we bless others when we use our gifts to get them healed ( Acts 3:1-11).
When we are blessed with material wealth and riches, let us remember to show our gratitude and appreciation to God first by bringing our first fruits to Him and to His house. Secondly, we must set some aside to support and promote the work of God.
Luke 8:1-3 NKJV
[1] Now it came to pass, afterward, that He went through every city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with Him, [2] and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities—Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons, [3] and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for Him from their substance.
Thirdly, we must set aside some money to help others and do charitable work (Acts 9:36-43). This is where we must be cautious and not overstretch ourselves and get into trouble for trying to be good. Most times, it is best to pray and commit people and their situations to God and let Him lead the way. Only get involved when God tells you to.
You see, when God blesses you and His blessings make you wealthy, you attract envious enemies, unhealthy desires and thieves. People will make plans for your money and pretend to be needy just to lay hands on a portion of what you have. That is why you need to be a WISE AND DISCERNING STEWARD OF GOD’S BLESSINGS.
Fourthly, we must learn to wisely sow our seeds, make good investments, and trust God for a hundredfold harvest so that our prosperity will continue. Let us remember that to continue to be a blessing to others, our income and resources must massively exceed our expenditure!
You and I have been called to be partakers of Abraham’s blessings. We are blessed to be a blessing to others. Are we willing and ready to be discerning? May the Lord grant us wisdom and understanding of the importance of His blessings upon our lives, and help us through His Holy Spirit to steward His blessings in the right way. May the wisdom of Joseph be our portion in Jesus’s name. Amen!
