The Lord who fights battles: Verse of the Day

THE LORD WHO FIGHTS BATTLES:

‭‭2 Samuel 5:18-20 NLT‬‬
[18] The Philistines arrived and spread out across the valley of Rephaim. [19] So David asked the Lord, “Should I go out to fight the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?” The Lord replied to David, “Yes, go ahead. I will certainly hand them over to you.” [20] So David went to Baal-perazim and defeated the Philistines there. “The Lord did it!” David exclaimed. “He burst through my enemies like a raging flood!” So he named that place Baal-perazim (which means “the Lord who bursts through”).

David was a successful man of war. Through him, Israel won many battles against their enemies. David was so successful in battle because he allowed the Lord to fight his battles for him, and he always remembered to give credit to God.

When he stood before Saul when he was about to go and face Goliath, this is what transpired.

‭‭I Samuel 17:37 NKJV‬‬
[37] Moreover David said, “The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you!”

Is it any wonder, David won the battle with Goliath?

When Moab, Ammon, and others, came to fight against Judah in 2 Chronicles 20, king Jehoshaphat called for a fast throughout all Judah. This is how the Lord responded.

‭‭II Chronicles 20:17 NKJV‬‬
[17] You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.”

Beloved, this morning, God wants you to know that His desire is to face your challenges with you. He doesn’t want you to fight your battles alone. When He fights your battles for you, you will be the winner because He is The Lord of Breakthroughs. The only thing He wants you to do is acknowledge Him (like David always enquired from Him every time he faced challenges) and trust Him. This, my friends, is the winning attitude.

‭‭Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV‬‬
[5] Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; [6] In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
