GROWING IN WISDOM:
Proverbs 4:5-12 NKJV
[5] Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. [6] Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you. [7] Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. [8] Exalt her, and she will promote you; She will bring you honor, when you embrace her. [9] She will place on your head an ornament of grace; A crown of glory she will deliver to you.” [10] Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, And the years of your life will be many. [11] I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths. [12] When you walk, your steps will not be hindered, And when you run, you will not stumble.
Wisdom is something you do, can get, and therefore, certainly grow in. Jesus grew in wisdom. So can you!. The writer of Proverbs also encourages his readers to get wisdom because wisdom is the principal thing. Whatever we do in live, from relating with God, to dealing with people, serving, or leading, we must do with wisdom.
Wisdom is the difference maker. Those who handle themselves with wisdom will be promoted and they will increase. They will be honoured, blessed with long life and nothing can hinder their walk and race in life. Those who have understanding of life embrace wisdom and exalt her in their lives.
Do you know what wisdom is? Do you value and desire to walk and grow in wisdom? Then ask God for wisdom (James 1:5-7). Are you listening and learning from your life experiences? This is what the writer of Proverbs also says to those who desire to grow in wisdom.
Proverbs 15:31-33 NKJV
[31] The ear that hears the rebukes of life Will abide among the wise. [32] He who disdains instruction despises his own soul, But he who heeds rebuke gets understanding. [33] The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom, And before honor is humility.
The way of wisdom is humility.
