Fisherman to Fisher of men: Verse of the Day

FISHERMAN TO FISHER OF MEN:

‭‭Luke 5:4-11 NKJV‬‬
[4] When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” [5] But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” [6] And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. [7] So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. [8] When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” [9] For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken; [10] and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.” [11] So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him.

God blesses those who make space in their lives for God to expand His kingdom through them. When we seek first the kingdom of God and its righteousness, all that we desire will be added unto our lives as blessings.

Peter and his partners had fished all night and caught nothing, but when Jesus requested to use their boat to preach to the crowds, they consented. After preaching, Jesus further requested that they go a little further into the sea and cast their nets for a catch. Even though they were tired and the request seemed ludicrous, Peter decided to obey. You see, when you make a little room in your life for God to work through you, you gain more confidence and faith in Him to obey His next instructions!

It is only when we fully obey God’s instructions that we experience God’s blessings (Joshua 1:8 & Deuteronomy 28:1-14). When Peter and his colleagues obeyed the instructions of Jesus, they caught so many fish, they had to call their partners with other ships to help. They were so astonished at the huge blessings and harvest of fish that Peter begged Jesus to depart from him because he was sinful!

Do you want to be astonished with God’s blessings? Make room in your life for God. Make a little space and time in your life for God. Those who make room in their lives in obedience to the Lord, will be abundantly blessed. They will cease from fishing everywhere for money to become fishers of men and walk in His blessings.
