THE INTERCEDING CHRISTIAN 1:
Matthew 6:8-10 NKJV
[8] “Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. [9] In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. [10] Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.
The believing Christian must pray not only for his own needs but must also make time to pray, intercede, for his family, his church (leaders and other believers), his community, nation, and the lost world for God’s will in heaven to be done in their lives as it is in heaven. This is the only way Christians will be strengthened and the gospel of Christ advanced.
When the individual Christian stands in the place of prayer for others (intercede), they must remember that they are involved in the most worthy cause of co-labouring with Christ.
Hebrews 7:24-25 NKJV
[24] But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. [25] Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
Friends, you and I must extend ourselves to pray for others and for the salvation of souls. It is through the combined prayers of Christ and other believers that we were saved. It makes sense therefore, for us to make time to pray for others, instead of always only praying for ourselves and our needs. God says He knows our needs even before we pray so, we must not be preoccupied with them.
Do you want to see the kingdom of God strengthened and advanced? Do you want to be a victorious Christian? Take your place in the front line of intercession. Those who intercede experience a greater joy and depth of relationship with Christ.
