GOD’S GLORY AT THE TABERNACLE DOOR:
Exodus 33:7-11 NKJV
[7] Moses took his tent and pitched it outside the camp, far from the camp, and called it the tabernacle of meeting. And it came to pass that everyone who sought the Lord went out to the tabernacle of meeting which was outside the camp. [8] So it was, whenever Moses went out to the tabernacle, that all the people rose, and each man stood at his tent door and watched Moses until he had gone into the tabernacle. [9] And it came to pass, when Moses entered the tabernacle, that the pillar of cloud descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord talked with Moses. [10] All the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the tabernacle door, and all the people rose and worshiped, each man in his tent door. [11] So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.
The presence of God is often indicated by a cloud of glory, and every time God’s glory appeared, it was time for the people to worship Him. This happened every time Moses went into the tabernacle to seek God. The pillar of cloud would descend to stand at the door of the tabernacle and the people will worship, each from his tent door. Only Moses spoke to God face to face, just as a man speaks to his friend.
This Pillar of cloud reminds me of the cloud that led the children of Israel by day when they came out of Egypt. This pillar of cloud was God leading His people (Exodus 13:17-22). God led His people with a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night all through their journey.
Today, God is with us through His Holy Spirit who lives in us. We do not need a pillar of cloud or fire to remind us of His presence. We must know by faith that He is in us and with us. If we are conscious of this fact, we will act and serve God differently, and our faith in God would grow stronger.
Hebrews 11:6 NKJV
[6] But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Do you know that God is with you? Why don’t you live a worshipful life? The children of Israel always worshiped when the pillar of cloud appeared! Our pillar of cloud is constantly with us, though it is invisible, because our God is always with us. God led his people with a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night, but today, He leads us by His Spirit.
Romans 8:13-14 NKJV
[13] For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. [14] For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
