GIFTS OF HEALINGS:
I Corinthians 12:7-11 NKJV
[7] But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: [8] for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, [9] to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, [10] to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. [11] But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.
The gifts of healings is the supernatural ability given to some members in the body of Christ to administer the healing of sicknesses and diseases, and to bring restoration to parts of the human body, without the involvement of medicinal and natural remedies. It is a gift given to an individual to use for the benefit of others, sometimes through the laying of hands, without the use of natural means. It is solely the power of God through the Holy Spirit working through an individual.
This gift is described in plural, possibly because of the many sicknesses and diseases in the world, necessitating the need for different giftings of healings. For instance, there are some individuals who can pray for the healing growths and tumors, but have little success in ministering healing for the lame, crippled, or those with reproductive issues. Some too may be gifted to open blind eyes and to heal those with sight related issues but are less successful in ministering to people with a common headache. This is the amazing grace of God.
An example of this gift at work is the healing of the lame man at the Beautiful Gate (Acts 3:1-10). We can also consider how this gift worked powerfully together with the gift of working of miracles through the ministry of Philip, the Evangelist. This is a very inspiring and amazing gift to see in operation and I pray that you may have this gift to minister to your community.
Are you concerned about the many people who are sick around you today? Are you moved with compassion and even to tears when you see the sick? Do you pray for the sick to be healed constantly? It may be that God has placed these gifts of healings in you. Step out in faith and offer to pray for the sick at every opportunity you get, to activate and stir up this gift.
