DIVINE PROTECTION:
Mark 16:15-18 NKJV
[15] And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. [16] He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. [17] And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; [18] they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
Jesus didn’t just redeem us from our sins and sicknesses and leave us just like that. He placed us in positions of victory and protection where nothing can harm us. His desire is that we live with confidence and trust in Him so that we are not afraid of anything. God is saying to us that even if serpents are positioned to harm us, we will walk on them without harm.
Friends, like Job, you and I are covered by God. He has placed a hedge of protection around us and the devil cannot touch us except with His permission (Job 1:10). If you drink anything dangerous, it will not harm you. If even a serpent should mistakenly bite you, it will not harm you (Acts 28:1-6). Listen, God is protecting you, your children, and all that you have and you do. Remember Job 1:10?
Why are we so fearful? Why are we living the way we do? It is because we do not understand fully who we are and what God has done for us. If you lived in a glass house, would you be carelessly throwing stones? God has placed a hedge around us and we only get hurt when we break the hedge (Ecclesiastes 10:8).
God has redeemed us from the Kingdom of darkness and placed us in His Kingdom and secret place. All you and I need to do is to abide (live) there. It is a place of faith (solid belief in God), righteousness, obedience and prayer. Those who are able to dwell there are secure, peaceful and victorious (Psalm 91).
