EMPOWERED TO OVERCOME:
Mark 16:15-18 NKJV
[15] And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. [16] He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. [17] And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; [18] they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
Not only did Jesus redeem us from our sins and their impact on our lives, He empowered us, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to minister to others who are also afflicted in the same way. Jesus came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10) and to destroy all the works of the devil (1 John 3:8), and we have been empowered to carry on with that work.
Acts 1:8 NKJV
[8] But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
One thing all believing Christians must know is that we have been set free so that we can also set others free. We must seek to know and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit so that we can powerfully and effectively overcome the works of the devil and help others overcome too. Whether you feel Him or not, if you have received the Holy Spirit, you have power. Use it !
