Freedom From debts: Verse of the Day

FREEDOM FROM DEBTS:

‭2 Kings 4:1-7 NLT‬
[1] One day the widow of a member of the group of prophets came to Elisha and cried out, “My husband who served you is dead, and you know how he feared the Lord. But now a creditor has come, threatening to take my two sons as slaves.” [2] “What can I do to help you?” Elisha asked. “Tell me, what do you have in the house?” “Nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil,” she replied. [3] And Elisha said, “Borrow as many empty jars as you can from your friends and neighbors. [4] Then go into your house with your sons and shut the door behind you. Pour olive oil from your flask into the jars, setting each one aside when it is filled.” [5] So she did as she was told. Her sons kept bringing jars to her, and she filled one after another. [6] Soon every container was full to the brim! “Bring me another jar,” she said to one of her sons. “There aren’t any more!” he told her. And then the olive oil stopped flowing. [7] When she told the man of God what had happened, he said to her, “Now sell the olive oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on what is left over.”

God’s desire for you and I is debt free living. Christ came to set us free so that we can live enjoying God’s abundant Provisions. When we learn to walk with God, we will go from the slavery of debts to the liberty of living in His blessings. Consider these scriptures …..

‭Deuteronomy 28:12 NLT‬
[12] The Lord will send rain at the proper time from his rich treasury in the heavens and will bless all the work you do. You will lend to many nations, but you will never need to borrow from them.

‭Proverbs 22:7 NLT‬
[7] Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender.

‭John 10:9-10 NLT‬
[9] Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures. [10] The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

For those of us who are enjoying living on our credit cards, take a look at the interest you are paying and the stress you have placed on your life and be wise. Never borrow to satisfy your fleshly desires, to give to others, or to impress others. The only two times in the Bible people were told to borrow ended in their blessings ( 2 Kings 4:1-7 & Exodus 11:2-3; 12:35-36).

Do you want to get out of debt? Do you want to be free to be fruitful and increase? Follow God’s instructions. They will lead you from a life of slavery into freedom to enjoy the abundant blessings of God.
