THE BENEFITS OF EXERCISE:
1 Timothy 4:6-8 NLT
[6] If you explain these things to the brothers and sisters, Timothy, you will be a worthy servant of Christ Jesus, one who is nourished by the message of faith and the good teaching you have followed. [7] Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives’ tales. Instead, train yourself to be godly. [8] “Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.”
To win in life, one has got to learn to exercise himself in two disciplines, physical and spiritual. Physical exercises are very important in this life yet their importance and benefits are far outweighed by those of spiritual exercises.
Physical exercises and disciplines are good in this life but, spiritual disciplines and exercises are profitable in this life and in the life to come. Where physical exercises fail to yield the desired results, spiritual exercises would because they release the power of God to work on the situation.
Physical exercises like walking, running, cycling, swimming, eating a balanced diet and drinking adequate amounts of water are good and very beneficial. Most diseases are preventable and many reversible with lifestyle adjustments in diets, exercises, and other physical changes.
If we are to win in the business world, we have got to exercise ourselves in good and profitable business activities. If we are to overcome poverty in life we have to learn to avoid or reduce wastage, develop money management skills and do the things that generate income. Without these physical exercises, all our prayers and spiritual exercises will fail to produce the desired results.
Those who win in life have learned to combine the best of both (Genesis 41:16-57). Do you really want to win in life? Do what the Bible teaches!
