THE FAITHFUL GOD:
Deuteronomy 7:9-11 NKJV
[9] “Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments; [10] and He repays those who hate Him to their face, to destroy them. He will not be slack with him who hates Him; He will repay him to his face. [11] Therefore you shall keep the commandment, the statutes, and the judgments which I command you today, to observe them.
God is a faithful covenant keeping God. He faithfully keeps His covenant to a thousand generations for all who love Him and keep His commandments. If God is to do anything for you and I, He looks to His word, His covenant, and to the promises He has made to us and our forefathers.
For those of us who have made Christ Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, He looks to Christ, what Christ has done for us, and His great promises to us in the New covenant (Hebrews 8:6-9). Through the blood and the name of Christ we can boldly and confidently come to God with our needs and be certain He will hear us and answer us.
Does this give us the license to continue in sin? Never! God keeps covenant to those who love Him, and those who love Him keep His commandments (John 14:15). Our sins must never keep us away from God because He is always faithful to His word (2 Timothy 2:11-13). Therefore, we must learn to feed on His word and on His faithfulness so that we can confidently approach Him no matter what.
Psalms 37:3-5 NKJV
[3] Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. [4] Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. [5] Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.
