EMPOWERED!
Acts of the Apostles 1:6-8 NLT
[6] So when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking him, “Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?” [7] He replied, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know. [8] But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Being baptized with the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues, having the gift of diverse kinds of tongues, and the gift of interpretation of tongues, are all manifestations and operations of the Holy Spirit. They are evidence that we are empowered by God to reach out and win souls all over the world.
The disciples of Jesus Christ kept asking Him, when He was going to free Israel and restore the kingdom to Israel because they were confusing the spiritual kingdom of God, which Jesus came to proclaim, with the restoration of the physical kingdom of Israel. Jesus said, He wouldn’t speculate on such things because those dates were only determined by God.
What He needed them to understand and focus on was that they were now part of the kingdom of God and that they would receive power after the Holy Spirit has come upon them, and they would be His witnesses to all the nations of the world beginning from Jerusalem.
Have you been baptized with the Holy Spirit? Do you speak with tongues? Then know that you have power to impact situations and lives for God. Whenever you feel you are dry and have run out of power, just recharge yourself praying in the Spirit. Those who spend time daily with God praying in tongues are always filled with power. Time spent with God praying in the spirit is never time wasted!
